Let’s create a wonderful directory of trade-free stuff! Because we are trying to be 100% transparent, we are making public all of the submissions that were rejected. You can find the list here where you can also object to that decision.

Review of Riseup.net

First, sorry for the late reply, we were busy and had to fix some stuff. Second, we appreciate your comment and we also asked the riseup team directly: https://paste.pics/54105886f02e22524878a2049fded0ea – so what they wrote is, that they “rely on our users to personally invite people they know”. Although we understand this very well, as they want to avoid their service being misused, it is unfortunately a barrier (a trade) for people. We for example do not know any riseup users which makes it impossible for us to register an account. Therefore we can not include this service into the directory. There are other projects like ggc-project (https://www.ggc-project.de/) who offer the same kind of service without that barrier – people can just send them an email and they will provide an email account for them.

Review of Riseup.net

I have been a member for years, and I was not aware that they had instituted a referral program to help alleviate spam. While I understand that this would not make them completely trade-free. If this is the only objection to their inclusion, I would judge that they are nearly compliant with the spirit of the trade-free directory. Out of curiosity, I emailed them about what to do if there were an issue with getting someone to vouch for you when applying for an account. They responded that it was simply to prevent spam emailers signing up and the resultant lack of infrastructure for legitimate users, and that an email to support would allow even a non-vouched person to apply for an account.

Review of PictShare.net

Yes, for one the ad makes it anything but trade-free and second, the website is not working at all (https://paste.pics/df48d47a09b3e247d81839f1681ad7cd).

Review of sci-hub

Worth mentioning that on their official websites they do have a lot of trackers on the main page, from the social-media buttons that they have added, and as far as I can tell, the creator of the project does not regard such trades as “bad”. This is a very slippery slope so I am giving it just 3 blocks because of that.

Review of GoodDollar UBI

W.A.I.T. – What am I trading? So, I’m trading my data and my attention, because the website is full of trackers and ads: https://paste.pics/351ebd2faa77c96fa4e9263f5350ce5f – besides that, I don’t know what if offers? It’s about another form of currency and trade: https://www.gooddollar.org/get-gooddollar/ which is completely opposite of the trade-free idea. The book “The Origin of most Problems” discusses that in detail: https://www.tromsite.com/books/#dflip-df_6562/1/
